EVO Komořany: Stack installed in its final position
The construction project of the Waste-to-Energy (ZEVO) plant in Komořany near Most has reached another important milestone. The 75-metre-high stack has now been fully installed in its final position.
The installation was carried out in several stages. Individual sections of the stack were delivered to site as oversized components and subsequently erected using heavy lifting equipment. The stack consists of three segments, and its installation ranked among the more technically and logistically demanding operations, partly affected by adverse weather conditions.
The installation was based on a massive foundation with a footprint of 8 × 9 metres and a depth of 2.5 metres, ensuring the stability of the 75-metre-high structure even under wind load.
The stack is one of the final major technological components completing the overall structure of the ZEVO facility. Once completed, the plant will serve for the energy recovery of non-recyclable waste from the region, converting it into heat and electricity.
Within the project, we provide Technical Supervision of the Investor and engineering support services, overseeing both the quality of execution and the coordination of individual construction phases.
Project benefits for the Most region:
• Annual utilization of up to 150 thousand tonnes of non-recyclable waste that would otherwise end up in landfills
• Savings of ~88 thousand tonnes of brown coal per year thanks to the combined operation of the heating plant and the EVO facility
• Shift away from fossil fuels and lower emissions compared to conventional heating plants
